The final project for my Sound Design class at Emerson College was to redo the audio of a trailer. After some consideration I chose the "Deliver Hope" trailer for the video game Halo: Reach. While the original version heavily emphasized its emotional score, it downplayed the rest of the soundscape.
I decided my version would do the opposite, favoring the sounds of war over the music. After building a library of audio from the Halo video games and additional sources, I layered in countless sounds in a stereo mix.
The completed project was well received by my professor. My classmates agreed that my version of the trailer was "better than the original." I believe that both versions succeed at different goals.
